Mexico has approved the extradition of drug kingpins to the United States Shorty – RBC

The Mexican authorities approved the transfer of the drug lord Joaquin El Chapo Guzman (aka Shorty) US authorities. It is reported by Reuters, citing a statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.

The decision was made after Mexico gained assurance that against El Chapo no death penalty will be applied. According to the laws of the country, the convicted person may appeal against the extradition order. Exact drug lord transmission timing is not reported.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the US federal courts of Texas and California Guzman indicted, including drug trafficking, money laundering and murder.

in early May, the drug lord was transferred from the prison of a strict “Altiplano” regime in the prison, located near the US border. However, while the Mexican authorities assured that this process is not associated with the beginning of the process of extradition of the convicted person.
