WASHINGTON, May 17 – RIA Novosti The US Senate passed a bill that allows the victims of the terrorist attacks September 11, 2001 to submit claims to the Government of Saudi Arabia in connection with his alleged involvement in organizing attacks

.. After approval by the Senate under the law of the great name of “Justice against sponsors of terrorism” under consideration in the House of representatives and, if successful, it will be on the table of the president for signature.

The law even before its consideration caused strained relations between the two countries. Earlier edition of New York Times reported that Riyadh is dissatisfied with the preparation of the draft law and the Foreign Minister of the Arab country, Adel al-Dzhubeyr during a visit to Washington, he warned in March that the kingdom will sell its in US assets worth about $ 750 billion, if it will be adopted.

The US Treasury on Tuesday published data on the external debt of the country, according to which the share of Saudi Arabia is more than 116.8 billion dollars.

However, the White house has made it clear that the president does not sign the law. So, in April, the official representative of the US administration Josh Ernest said that the adoption of the bill fail to a “unique threat level” as will enable the other States to submit claims to the United States.

Later, Ernest May 17 reiterated that the bill “will change the long-established international norms and make the US vulnerable to the courts of other countries.” He stressed that “the administration is opposed to this bill and begin discussions on this issue.” According to Ernest, “it is difficult to imagine that US President Barack Obama will support the document”.
