The only Russian heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” in the summer of 2016 it is planned to send to the Mediterranean Sea. It is reported by TASS with reference to a senior source in the main command of the Russian Navy.
According to the agency, the Mediterranean cruiser headed by a permanent grouping of the Russian Navy in the region.
He added that after going to the Mediterranean sea “Admirad Kuznetsov” at the end of 2016 will be on repairs, which will last 2-2.5 years. The source explained that the cruiser will, in particular, updating the air group.
In the middle of January, the chief of central administrative board of the Ministry of Defense of Russia Vladimir shipbuilding rag-pickers said that the modernization of the cruiser start as expected at the end of this year. “Today, the ship has to pass the restoration of technical readiness, and during 2016 it will solve the problem on the mission,” – said the rag-pickers, adding that the updated ship wing will include new MiG-29K fighters and other aircraft.
