Film studio Miramax Film sold to Qatari media company – Vedomosti

The Hollywood studio Miramax Film, has created such films as “Pulp Fiction,” “Shakespeare in Love,” “The English Patient”, “Kill Bill”, sold based in Qatar media companies BeIN Media Group, reported Financail Times . The transaction involved a group of investors, including Qatar Investment Authority and the Qatar sovereign fund Colony Capital Tom Berreka. Its amount is not called.

This acquisition will enable Qatari companies to expand their broadcast in 24 countries, including the US, France and Australia. “Our plans assume continued growth and the creation of new content for it,” – leads edition of the words of executive director BeIN Media Group, Qatari businessman Nasser Ghanim Al-Helaifi. “Under the leadership of BeIN we look forward to further spread our television and film production, strengthening the position of the studio as a pioneer of independent commercial cinema in the world”, – said General Director of Miramax Films Steve Schoch.

Miramax Films was founded in 1979 by brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein. In 1993, they sold it to The Walt Disney Company for $ 80 million. In 2010, the studio was resold for $ 660 million group of investors led by billionaire Ronald tutor. On the basis of more than 700 films were produced Miramax.
