Medvedev: The policy of import substitution should be thoughtful – Russian newspaper

Russia does not set itself the task of total import substitution, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. This course must be considered and taken into account the international obligations of the country.

“No one puts a problem of total replacement of all imports. It is impossible, it is the opposite extreme,” – said the head of government at a meeting on import substitution.

Thus, the share of imports in the machine tool industry is estimated at about 90 percent in heavy machine building – 70 percent, oil and gas equipment – about 60 percent in energy equipment – about 50 percent, agricultural machinery, depending on the product category – from 50 to 90 percent .

The Ministry was instructed to prepare before April 1, sectoral import substitution program. All coped within the prescribed period. “By July 1, decisions must be made, which are aimed at the implementation of these programs,” – reminded the Premier.

“The policy of import substitution should be reasonable, thoughtful, and take into account our interests, first and foremost, and international obligations, take into account the turned cooperative ties with our partners, who have already invested in our industry, manufacturing, agriculture, brought modern technology, “- again Medvedev said.
