The Kremlin hopes to settle the claims of the European Commission to “Gazprom” – RBC

The Kremlin hopes that the question of the claims of the European Commission to “Gazprom” will be resolved through negotiations, in which the parties will reach a compromise solution Interfax reported.

«We hope that a compromise will be found. We believe that such disputes will certainly need to be addressed in the negotiations, “- said the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, the Kremlin expects” an absolutely impartial attitude “to” Gazprom ” .

«Naturally,” Gazprom “will defend their interests, and the state as a major shareholder of this company will defend the interests of” Gazprom “, – said Sands.

European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager on Wednesday put forward a formal claim to the “Gazprom” – the largest supplier of gas to Europe – in the case of abuse of dominance. Concern directed the so-called notice of the claim (Statement of objections) – the next step in the three-year antitrust investigation that may lead to the fact that “Gazprom” will be forced to reconsider the foundations of its business in Eastern Europe.

A preliminary assessment of the European Commission is that “Gazprom” violates antitrust EU rules, deliberately disconnecting the gas markets of Central and Eastern Europe, for example, limiting the ability of its wholesale customers to resell the gas to other European countries. This practice “allows” Gazprom “to set unfair prices” in some European markets, according to a press release from the regulator. In addition, the European Commission suspects “Gazprom” is that it links the illegal supply of gas to the implementation of buyers “unrelated obligations” relating to gas transport infrastructure.

The charges relate to the activities of the European Commission, “Gazprom” in eight countries – Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia.
