Medvedev supported the idea to raise the retirement age for civil servants – TVNZ

On Tuesday, April 21, the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a speech to the State Duma deputies that are not against raising the retirement age for officials in Russia.

– I agree with you that a significant part of the deputies of the State Duma, civil servants, in principle, not in a hurry to retire, are willing to work for a long time. If they are willing to work for a long time, then why not create such an opportunity? – He said.

The Prime Minister also noted that this issue is very meticulous, and in this regard, there is a debate in the government. Raising the retirement age, he said, should not touch those citizens who are already going to retire, reports Tass.

Earlier, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov called as soon as possible to resolve the issue with the abolition of early retirement and increased pensionnogovozrasta. In his opinion, these measures will not only reduce the burden on the budget, but also mitigate the effects of the demographic situation with which the Russians will face in the near future.
