FSB Russia banned for five years from entering Russia Finnish investors, members of the Board of Directors of a number of large Russian companies Seppo Remes, Russian media reported.
An investor who has lived in Russia since 1993, was not allowed into the country, when he returned from vacation on March 22.
“I flew on vacation on March 13 before flying FSB handed me an official warning about the inadmissibility of actions that create conditions for crime, the investigation of which is the responsibility of the FSB” – Remes said the newspaper “Vedomosti”.
As stated in the text of warnings, the FSB has information that Remes collects information in respect of senior energy companies with state participation and plans for their development.
In this case, the FSB recognizes that this information not transferred to foreign intelligence services, so grounds for bringing Seppo Remes criminally responsible on charges of espionage no.
The instrument of deportation, which was handed Remes, did not contain an explanation of the decision. It only says that the government has the right to take such a decision in accordance with Russian law.
Seppo Remes known as associate of the former head of RAO UES Anatoly Chubais, he was a member of the board of directors of the company. When it became known on the reform of the electricity generated in 2007 Remes investment fund EOS Russia began to buy shares of interregional grid companies.
Now the fund owns minority stakes in IDGC of Urals, Center, Volga, Volga, North-West and “Lenenergo “. Remes is an independent member of the boards of directors of companies “Rossetti”, “Sibur”, “RUSNANO” and Sollers.
In a press release the Board of Directors of the Fund said that the deportation of Remes is regarded as “an unfortunate development for EOS Russia” .
Remes also heads a consulting company Kiuru Partners LLC, registered in the State of New York.
